Have you ever experienced hair color fade? If you're using a permanent hair dye, chances are that the fading is due to one or more of the common culprits listed below.

When taken care of appropriately, permanent hair dye should have minimal to no fade.

1. Abrasion

1. Abrasion

Exposure to any form of abrasion can wear color away over time. For example, rubbing too hard with a towel, or even using a rough brush can strip color.

Be gentle.
Use a soft towel to pat your hair dry after you get out of the shower. And if you use a brush, go with softer bristles that are more widely spaced.

2. Excessive Heat

2. Excessive Heat

Excessive heat (whether it's from a hair dryer or just a really hot shower) opens the cuticles of your hair which makes it easier for the color to escape.

Try taking cooler showers, and make sure to use a high-quality conditioner with an abundance of natural oils that will protect your hair like coconut oil, almond oil, argan oil, and others You can also use beard or hair oils with these ingredients.

3. Harsh Shampoo & Conditioners

3. Harsh Shampoo & Conditioners

Most shampoos, conditioners, and 2-in-1s contain ingredients that dry out and strip your hair of its color.

Some of these ingredients include sulfates, which are aggressive cleansing chemicals often found in dish soap, or parabens, which are preservatives used to increase the shelf life of products.

We searched and searched, but unfortunately, we couldn’t find any shampoo or conditioner for men’s hair and beard that helps extend your color and protect it from fading.

So, we created our own. Learn more about that here.
